Aduro Advisors’ website redesign shows how they are leading the industry

Aduro Advisors supports the success of the leading venture firms. Using best-in-class technology powered by the industry’s top professionals, they provide premier fund accounting services, enabling clients to perform at their best.

We’ve been lucky to work with Aduro over the course of many years. This is the second website project we’ve done with them, as they’ve grown dramatically since we first collaborated. This time they needed a new website that could reflect just how much they’ve grown and evolved.

Challenge Accepted

For this project we needed to optimize web content and be direct about who they serve. We also needed to tell the Aduro story in a compelling way,  while reflecting the size of the company and the skills they offer.

Through collaboration and iteration, we were able to make creative choices that truly set Aduro Advisors apart from their competition.

Big Goals Lead to Big Gains

The project goals included:

  • Redesign and refine website to enhance growth
  • Continue to attract top talent using the website as a landing point for potential recruits
  • Showcase new Aduro videos and client resource section
  • Build and enhance new content with the help of Rock & Bloom content strategist
  • Ensure that the site reflects the evolution and current scope of Aduro

Getting Down to Business

Full Website Redesign

With the website redesign it was important to accomplish a few things. First, we wanted to show off the caliber of work that they do. Next, we wanted to really humanize the site – to show what it looks like to work at Aduro. We didn’t want anything to feel corporate or cold, instead we opted for design choices that would bring warmth to the site.

The hierarchy of the website and content priority remained top of mind throughout the entire project. We needed to ensure that each page told a story, and that the story was comprehensive, yet concise. The goal was to create a seamless relationship between content and design that could empower their team to make edits as they continue to grow.

Celebrating The Wins

Like Aduro itself, our relationship with their team has grown stronger over the years. We love collaborating with this powerhouse client, building a brand that is made to last and a website that delivers a powerful impact.

In approaching our website refresh, Rock and Bloom immediately honed in on the people-first strategy that sets Aduro apart. The final product is a website that celebrates our incredible team while still highlighting the premier service and technology we’re known for. We have had a longstanding relationship with Heather, David, and the R&B team. Their expert advice has been instrumental as we have scaled our business and evolved the Aduro brand over the years

Sask Sport: Championing sport, culture, and recreation in our prairie province

Sask Sport is a volunteer-led, non-profit organization committed to enriching Saskatchewan communities. As the provincial federation for amateur sport, Sask Sport develops collective programs and services beneficial to sport.

Sask Sport also oversees the management of several different entities, including Sask Lotteries.  Proceeds from Sask Lotteries are dedicated to eligible sport, culture and recreation groups to benefit communities throughout the province. Every year, this lottery-funded system benefits more than 12,000 community groups in Saskatchewan.

Challenge Accepted

Sask Sport has an important mission, but was dealing with a website that lacked proper functionality. We needed to create a strong website that would allow their team to be fully autonomous.

Sask Sport has many different entities, and a lot of these things were living on different microsites. We needed to pull everything under one roof, so that the experience would be cohesive.

Big Goals Lead to Big Gains

The project goals included:

  • Create an easy to use, accessible, scalable website for Sask Sport
  • Build a highly functional navigation and flexible content organization
  • Be able to support a large number of resources
  • Fully AA accessibility compliant
  • Educate the user about Sask Sport and better tell the Sask Sport story

Getting Down to Business

Resource Library

The resource library was a major component of this project. The site is very content heavy, and we wanted to ensure that it was easy to navigate, while also allowing their team to maintain it.

We started with developing the site architecture. Site arch and tree testing was critical for this project because it’s a massive organization and we needed it to be useful for everyone.

We built complex tagging systems that help the user find what they’re looking for. Content organization was crucial in our process – making sure that all content was easy to read and digest, and that all relevant links were in one place.

Icons & Branding

We took Sask Sport’s brand and expanded it to make it more impactful digitally. Custom icons and high-quality photography showcasing all sports help to tell their story in an engaging way.

We used a simple, clean design to make the site more accessible and flexible for future growth.  Positive language and a fun, inviting tone work together to capture the essence of the organization.

Above all, balance was key. Functionality and readability paired with visually compelling design and photography.

Accessibility

Sask Sport has an incredibly broad user base, and the site needed to be accessible to all – from board members to athletes. We needed to ensure we were sticking to accessibility standards across the entire site.

Being able to donate was difficult before, so we wanted to prioritize that feature. Sask Sport has many ways to donate, so we highlighted the various options to give visitors a choice to support in the way that works best for them.

We also wanted to ensure that the connection between Sask Sport and Sask Lotteries was clear. A lot of people don’t know what Sask Sport does, not to mention that every time you buy a lottery ticket you’re supporting this great organization.

Celebrating The Wins

Working and collaborating with the Sask Sport team was an incredible opportunity. We are so grateful to get to share this new site, and the story of the organization, with our community.

“Rock and Bloom is outstanding to partner with for marketing and web needs. From friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff to creative and innovative ideas, Rock and Bloom has helped Sask Sport grow as an organization through multiple projects including a website overhaul, identity refresh for a major advocacy campaign and social media strategy. We proudly and highly recommend their services.”

Bringing our diverse community together through inspiring and inclusive art programs

Remai Modern presents and collects local and international modern and contemporary art that connects, inspires, and challenges diverse audiences through equitable and accessible programs.

The museum aims to be a welcoming and inclusive public gathering place where we recognize the past, engage with the present, and envision new futures together through art.

Challenge Accepted

With new branding to implement, their five-year anniversary coming up quickly, as well as new CEOs with big ideas, Remai Modern was ready for a change.

The challenge was to create a site that is inclusive to all, implement the new branding in a way that serves their diverse audience, and balance usability and design to create a top-tier user experience – all before their five-year anniversary.

Big Goals Lead to Big Gains

The project goals included:

  • Full site redesign with a mobile-first approach
  • New art & design online store that is accessible to everyone
  • Implement an approachable, inclusive, and inviting design throughout
  • Prioritize user-experience and easy navigation
  • Create an atmosphere that represents who they are
  • Strike a balance between form and function, and ensure that design doesn’t overstep the content
  • Ensure that the Remai Modern team feels empowered going forward

Getting Down to Business

At Rock & Bloom, we work in phases to best optimize our time and energy. Our discovery phase is where we learn all about the business we’re working with. This stage is the foundation of what we do, and sets us in the right direction. It includes brand strategy workshop, customer persona development, and audit and assessment.

Next we move into strategic organization, which includes card sorting and tree testing, site architecture, which was a huge component of this project, and wireframes.

Finally, we move into design and execution. This includes design concept, development, and site launch. From initial design to website launch, we collaborate every step of the way to ensure a brand that delivers some serious wow factor.

Online Store

The online store was a huge component of the redesign. We needed to ensure a smooth workflow and easy access to their gorgeously curated products. Like the museum itself, the store features one-of-a-kind, innovative, and artful gifts that are as functional as they are beautiful.

Adopting a mobile-first approach, we crafted an online shopping experience that is immersive, easy to navigate, and exciting.

Website Redesign

The website redesign was an exciting challenge for our team. Using the brand guidelines, created by world-renowned design firm Wkshps, we needed to bring their vision to life online in a seamless and connected way.

We started by asking ourselves how we could make the website more approachable and inviting. This is potentially the first touchpoint that a visitor will have with Remai Modern, and we needed to make sure that it was a positive one. Bright colours and playful animations evoke a welcoming feeling, while large images help to preserve the art and create an immersive and engaging experience for the user – one that will hopefully inspire them to visit the museum in-person.

Inclusivity

A common thread throughout the entire project was inclusivity. The store, the website, and every piece of the brand needed to feel welcoming to all. We added a Family Page, featuring children’s art programs and activities, to welcome families to explore and engage with art.

We also created a seamless events calendar, to make it easy for anyone to search for upcoming events and participate in these community gatherings.

We redesigned the mega menu for ease and usability – pairing bold colours with big headings, and organizing the information in a thoughtful way that compliments the user-experience.

All of these little touches remind visitors that Remai Modern is for everyone.

Celebrating The Wins

Our partnership with Remai Modern is collaborative, inspiring, and built on trust and understanding. This is our second project with Remai Modern; we previously built Remai Modern Currents, a digital storytelling platform that acts as a virtual doorway to the museum that anyone can access at any time. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to work with them again.

“When we partnered with Rock and Bloom to redevelop the museum’s website we knew we had an exciting challenge in front of us. We had new branding to implement and a wide variety of offerings to organize for a diverse audience. Plus, we wanted to launch the website in time for our 5-year anniversary which was just a few months away.

“Rock and Bloom’s ability to quickly respond to feedback and be innovative problem-solvers was first-rate on this project. Creating the website and online store for a contemporary art museum is complex and we are very particular about our brand. We were so impressed with how Rock and Bloom were able to deliver on a very tight timeline and help us create a website that matches our vision for Remai Modern.”

— Reilly Forbes, Digital Projects Coordinator for Remai Modern.

Working with Remai Modern is both a joy and a privilege. We are grateful for their trust and open mindedness, as well as their vision and commitment to bettering our community. This new project and next chapter of Remai Modern will allow our city to reap the rewards of accessible art programing, bringing people together to “recognize the past, engage with the present, and envision new futures together through art.”
