From Bland to Bold: How This Downtown Shopping Destination Found Its Voice

Midtown Shopping Centre has been a fixture of downtown Saskatoon for years.

But somewhere along the way, the brand had stopped keeping up. The look was dated, the messaging was inconsistent, and the overall feel wasn’t reflecting what Midtown actually is: a vibrant, urban destination at the heart of the city where shopping, dining, and downtown life intersect.

They knew they needed a change. They just needed someone to help them figure out what that change should look and feel like. 

We started with a Brand Sprint to get clear on direction and alignment, then built out personas and key messaging to define exactly who Midtown is talking to. From there we developed a full strategic positioning framework including brand pillars and a refreshed voice and tone. On the visual side, we extended the brand identity with an updated colour palette, refined typography, and a bold new wordmark designed to feel confident, contemporary, and unmistakably Midtown. The result is a brand system that works across signage, digital, email, and every touchpoint in between.

Midtown didn’t need to become something new. It just needed a brand that finally matched what it already was.
